Using Art To Heal And Grow
When we engage in art therapy, we focus on the process, not the finished product. There are no skills or talent required! Just be willing to use your hands, eyes and your mind to deal with the emotions, issues and obstacles you’re facing in your life.
Using Art to Relax
Again here, art is not all about the end product. It’s all about the process. Allowing yourself to drift and be lost in your creativity can be very healing. There is no need to have directed thought on what you’re doing.
Being lost in your creativity can be very simple. Examples might include
coloring in, sculpting with playdough or clay, doodling or drawing, painting,
copying a picture, doing craft projects you find on pinterest, etc!
Place 2 cups plain flour, 1 cup salt, 1 tablespoon cooking oil, 3/4 cup cold water and a couple of drops food coloring in a bowl and mix until combined. If mixture consistency is still “wet” add more flour. Mix with hands until smooth. Store in airtight container.
